Tal R (b.1967), an Israeli-born Danish artist based in Copenhagen, is one of the most important contemporary artists working today. Internationally renowned, Tal R presents paintings, drawings and sculpture in Hastings this summer, including new works that seem to echo Hastings Contemporary’s seaside context in this exhibition Tal R: eventually all museums will be ships.
As an artist, Tal R works in a wide range of media from painting to collage, sculpture to graphic work, and is constantly evolving his artistic practice and way of working.
Known for his unique ability to experiment, reinterpret and create afresh, Tal R is an extraordinary artist whose work explores and takes inspiration from his surroundings bringing an international perspective to Hastings. His approach to painting opens up the possibilities of the medium whilst also reflecting a deep understanding of painting tradition, an approach that reaches to the heart of Hastings Contemporary’s mission.
Uninhibited, and with endless creativity, Tal R’s high productivity and extraordinary range of creative outputs has led to some likening him to Picasso.
