ANTA was founded in 1984 with a simple principle in mind, to produce high quality, traditional home furnishings and giftware in Scotland, using natural materials. Today, still family-owned, ANTA continues to grow and has become a leading Scottish design company recognised for its dedication to quality manufacturing. The company strives to have an impact globally, nationally and, importantly, at home. ANTA is committed to promoting the craftsmanship of the local people employed and trained in its Highland factory.  For over 30 years ANTA has manufactured at its factory in Fearn, training local people to gain diverse skills.

ANTA has always followed the tradition of manufacturing carpet and cloth from British wool, reviving the tradition with contemporary, subtle designs. ANTA carpet is contract quality and is made from the wiry wool of British hill sheep. Like the sheep, the wool is hardy and tough, making the carpet and cloth long lasting, hard wearing and sustainable. Each ANTA design is inspired by the Scottish landscape and seasons which provide the greatest colour palette for design. In 2015 a new factory was built, housing the textile and ceramic workshops, dispatch and design offices. Fitted with solar panels on the roof, the team now feeds their generated electricity back to the national grid. ANTA is committed to the reduction of waste which results in smaller products that utilise the off cuts from carpet production, such as ANTA’s Carpet Bags.

We are pleased to offer the iconic ANTA Carpet Bag as a gift for new Selvedge subscribers. Invented to use up offcuts from carpet production, they are now one of the company’s most popular products. In a time when we often feel far from home or from the ones we love ANTA’s skilled craftspeople continue to manufacture home and giftware that is timeless and compassionate.
