Fun of the Fair

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the first Selvedge World Fair last week. From the 100 artisans who took part, to our volunteers and to each person who bought a ticket, attended a workshop and bought something to treasure. We hadn’t planned for the event to be virtual but knew that we had to make sure that it went ahead. With your support we were able to create a powerful platform for craftspeople to tell their stories and where their beautiful work could be discovered by a worldwide audience. If there is anything that you would like to watch again or catch up on, you have until this evening (6pm BST) to view all recorded content. We will continue to offer items for sale from those artisans who want us to do so, and we will open that up to all website visitors soon.

Remember to vote for your favourite artisan if you haven’t done so already. The artisan who best exemplifies the philosophy of the event. The person with the most votes will receive an all-expenses paid trip to visit one of Thread Caravan's workshops where they can collaborate with a community other than their own. Thread Caravan hosts artisan workshops around the world. Visitors are able to learn about traditional craft production in communities where the craft originated or has been practiced for generations.
Finally, we are already planning the Selvedge World Fair 2021 and we would love your feedback to help us improve the event. Digital events were a completely new territory to us and while we have learned a lot putting it together we would like to know more about your experience as a customer. What did you think of the Show & Tells, the talks, the range of products on offer? Did you enjoy our Slow TV channel live from a weaving studio in India? (You can dip into that in the video above). We would like to hear about your experience of taking part in a Workshop too. Please let us know using this feedback form.
We will keep you up to date with news on next year’s event here on the blog and at Selvedge World Fair.
