Happy Holidays from Selvedge
Advent has begun!
To celebrate we have commissioned the Spanish artist and illustrator Paula Sanz Caballero to make this beautiful animation for us. Paula often uses fabric swatches in her lovely work – so she seemed like a natural choice when we were looking for an illustrator. We are so happy with the animation she has designed for us that we thought we'd ask her a few questions about how she made it...

What were your inspirations for the Selvedge Holiday animation?
There are some Austrian/ Black forest elements based on their Christmas traditions, such as the advent candles, the little angels and the nutcracker… I just wanted to put together as many Christmas symbols and I could and a parade of little angels seemed a natural way to use all of them.
How did you go about making it?
Children are not my usual drawing subject but, in this project, I just thought of them. They are the best representation of all the best Christmas brings, all excitement is in them.
What does Christmas make you think of?
Christmas makes me think of being at home with family and friends
Which artists / illustrators do you admire?
Oh so many... Jean Philippe De L´homme, Anja Kroencke, Gruau, Richard Haines...
Happy Holidays from everyone at Selvedge!
