IN CONVERSATION
Gudrun Sjödén: Four Decades of Colour & Design will close at the London Fashion and Textile Museum on the 7th of May and to mark it, Selvedge founder and editor Polly Leonard will be in conversation with Gudrun at the exhibition on Tuesday 25 April. Having previously modeled for Gudrun herself, Polly will discuss with her the key aspects to Gudrun’s success throughout the years.
Known worldwide for celebrating real women of all sizes and ages, Gudrun’s project Creative Women, where she asked inspirational female friends of a great variety to be photographed modeling her designs, has helped establish and maintain her position as a leading light in both contemporary clothing design and women’s representation in fashion media.
Celebrating over 40 years of characteristically colourful design, her latest exhibition in London features a selection of work from the company’s archive including designs, sketches, early catalogues and videos. It is a rare opportunity to look back at pieces that chart the progression of Gudrun’s work since launching her company in 1976, not to mention a rare opportunity to meet the designer herself.
Polly Leonard will be in conversation with Gudrun Sjödén on Tuesday 25 April 2-3pm at The Fashion and Textile Museum, 83 Bermondsey St, London SE1 3XF To buy your tickets visit www.ftmlondon.org
