London Fashion Week
Love it or loath it London Fashion Week drives an industry worth around £14 billion. Of course only a tiny percentage of those involved get to sit and cast judgement from the front row of a runway show but the opinions of those that do generate a ripple effect that touches us all sooner or later.
As Miranda Priestly pointed out to her sceptical and sartorially challenged assistant in The Devil wears Prada “You think this has nothing to do with you... But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean... Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns... Then it filtered down through the department stores... that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs.” Not so niche after all. Perhaps you are more fashionable than you think?
At a time of economic doom and gloom lets take the opportunity to celebrate something London and the UK does particularly well, producing exceptional design talent. From fashion royalty Vivienne Westwood to emerging stars such as Molly Goddard, London Fashion Week is no time for traditional British reticence.
