LlOP: SLOW, SUSTAINABLE FASHION
Llop is the name of a very cool design shop and gallery dedicated to the Mediterranean in Barrio Las Letras.
Alex Llop, from Cataluña, decided to leave behind the world of high fashion to embrace a slow, sustainable pace, paying homage to his origins, giving a voice to artists and artisans he admires and even designing himself. “Sentimentality evokes moments and emotions that remind us of our own experiences and traditions…The Mediterranean is my land of origin, full of light, colour, memories and traditions where the essential and heritage live together on a soft harmony and elegance.”
Alex´s recent collection is inspired by Farcell, a kind of timeless check or traditional scarf worn everyday by the farmers, who transformed it into a bag to carry their goods to be sold at the markets in a similar way to what the Japanese do with their furoshiki. “FARCELL The future often represents a review of those past essentials of life, and although almost invisible they are always with us, part of our existence.”
Thus, with a nod towards nostalgia, the bale-making handkerchief reinvents itself to offer an infinite range of possibilities, like the catalan check scarf both characteristic and identifiable. The fabric composition and the evocative beauty of its pattern, makes the scarf an ideal accessory to combine with a variety of artistic styles. Marcella Echavarria
