Made London – Bloomsbury
We can't wait for this year's Made London. The craft and design fair in Bloomsbury is set to include designers and makers that we've had our eye on for a while...
Using soft lambswool Rose B Brown's accessories and home ware is made entirely in the UK with time, care and investment. The lambswool yarn is dyed and spun in Scotland and gloves are produced in Northern England on specialist machinery. With a nod to Scandinavian, mid-century modern design, each cushion, scarf, glove and hat designed by Rose is something to look forward to on a cold day.
The hand weaver Charlotte Grierson works on a 24 shaft dobbie loom, constructing fabrics and art-led pieces from a wide range of traditional yarns such as silk, linen and merino to less traditional materials such as wire, nylon and horsehair. Behind everything Charlotte makes is a true appreciation and respect for the craft of hand weaving and because of this no two of her products are the same, "The advantage of weaving by hand is that each scarf on that warp will be woven with a different colour and, or yarn. This means all my handwoven scarves are one-offs."
The machine knitter and felt-maker Prilly Lewis has a way with colours. Her homeware, clothing and accessories always feel fresh but warming. Using strong, but not 'bottle' reds, yellows and blues it doesn't take long to get a feel for Prilly's well made and eclectic designs.
