Merchant & Mills Tutorials

Merchant & Mills Tutorials

April 15, 2020
Share

The sewing and pattern company Merchant & Mills has created two video tutorials to help people sew two of their beginner patterns, the Orton bag and the Camber top/dress. Both patterns can be downloaded as PDFs from the company’s site for home printing. Carolyn Denham and Roderick Field began Merchant & Mills in 2010 with the intention of bringing style and purpose to the – then – overlooked world of sewing. Merchant & Mills continues to grow steadily, evolving and developing as experience and ideas demand. Carolyn and Roderick now travel the world in search of unique and beautiful fabrics, finding aesthetic and practical inspiration along the way. Merchant & Mills products are stocked in the world’s most respected outlets and the company has successfully collaborated with London’s V&A Museum and Alexander McQueen.

Orton bag

The Orton is an oversized tote bag with variations to make it in ‘self’ so same fabric body as handles, with webbing handles or leather handles. There are separate files, depending on whether you want to make the bag lined or unlined. Skill level; very easy.

Camber set

The Camber is a simple dress with tapered A-line silhouette and short fitted sleeves for an easy-wear classic. The pattern features two versions – Dress or T-shirt. Skill level; Advanced Beginner.Merchant & Mills Rye store is currently closed, but under normal circumstances it offers unique fabrics, notions and sewing accessories as well as hosting classes.
