New Designers: One Year On
Celebrating its 30th edition, New Designers 2015 will gather together over 3,000 of the UK’s most talented design graduates. This year jewellery designer and photographer Rheanna Lingham has been announced as the curator of One Year On. Rheanna, who is owner and founder of Shoreditch boutique Luna & Curious – home of many covetable items – has the necessary enthusiasm and an undoubtedly keen eye. ‘I was thrilled to be asked to curate One Year On,” she says, “especially as it was the great response to my own work at New Designers that encouraged me to establish my own business.”
Sophie O'Connor
Sophia O'Connor, Surface Design (BA Hons) at Norwich University Of The Arts, graduated 2011 specialises in Digital Surface Designs with bold and dynamic results. In keeping with her love of colour, print and pattern, Sophia’s first collection creates an abstract interpretation of the weather. Bright colour and stark shapes combine to achieve surprisingly versatile prints.
Sofia Dawe
Sofia Dawe, Creative Practice for Narrative Environments (MA) at Central Saint Martins, graduated in 2009, launched her first collection entitled “Princes” earlier this year. Composed of exuberant, vivid designs for home decor and accessories, Sofia’s use of fine materials reflects the inspiration she found in rich Persian rugs while digital prints and youthful graphics add energy and freshness to the collection.
Melhuish & Sprague
Laura Melhuish-Sprague, Textiles: Innovation and Design BA Hons at Loughborough University, graduated 2014 “Melhuish & Sprague”; Offering an antidote to mass production, Laura's painted fabrics and traditional weaves blend well and add up to a complete interior collection with a cool and calming aesthetic.
