In November, we are hosting a cosy evening of online talks with three Scandinavian textile designers and makers, Nordic Knitting. Join us on Zoom, 25 November, 6pm (GMT), to be immersed in Nordic crafts. Cecilie Telle will tell us how she creates striking knitted and felted woollen goods; Arne & Carlos will talk about their work preserving the iconic craft of Norwegian knitwear and Annemor Sundbø will take us away from knitting to share her experiences as a woven textile designer and teacher. Each speaker will share a presentation and answer questions about their craft.

Cecilie Telle is a knitter and felt maker, a designer and teacher. A maker of functional and practical items out of wool. Cecilie, who is now based in London, hand makes all products herself using the best quality wool. Scandinavians Arne Nerjordet and Carlos Zachrisson (ARNE & CARLOS) are designers, textile artists and authors. They are best known for their original, colourful and visually striking designs as well as their books. Their work is highly influenced by their Scandinavian background and their everyday life in rural Norway. They recently launched a weekly video series 'Sit and Knit for a Bit with Arne and Carlos' where they talk about the projects they are working on and share a free knitting block.

Annemor Sundbø is a textile designer and teacher. She owns and operates a knitting workshop, “Ose Ullvare” in Setesdal, about 110 km from Kristiansand, Norway. From 1993 to 2006, Annemor ran the last remaining shoddy factory in Norway, Torridal Tweed og Ulldynefabrikk. This unexpected project came about after she approached the mill for training. The mill owner agreed to train her on one condition, she had to buy the factory. The storage bins were a treasure trove of knitting patterns and cultural history, through which Annemor unravelled the fascinating history of traditional knitting in the region. Annemor lectures internationally and teaches spinning, folk art embroidery, and knitting design and publishes on topics related to Norwegian knitting.

Nordic Knitting with Cecilie Telle, Arne & Carlos and Annemor Sundbø, 25 November, 18:00 - 20:00 GMT (London)
