Kristin Arzt is a natural dyer, educator, gardener and designer maker based in Oakland, California. In addition to making one of a kind quilts, teaching in-person and online courses, Kristin grows her own seasonal dye plants in her home garden for closer experimentation; often sharing seeds and sprouts with students. After becoming enamored with the world of natural color, Kristin has taken years to expand her toolkit, traveling far and wide to learn directly with specialized teachers in the dye community.

Tia Woven Goods is a cooperative which supports 500 women in Ghana, producing handwoven products out of grass, grown by the cooperative. Weaving is a way of life in Africa, and Ghana's Bolgatanga region is especially known for high-quality, beautiful baskets. The Frafra tribe has perfected its craft over generations, using baskets as a way to supplement farming income during the off-season. The baskets are made with Kinkanhe (elephant grass), all-natural dyes and leather handles.

Selvedge Magazine is a publication that acknowledges the significance of textiles as a part of everyone’s story. Almost every issue of Selvedge includes a craft project, and during the Virtual Fair we invite you to come and try one of them. The latest project, How to block print at home, has been kindly created and donated by one of our workshop tutors, textile & print designer Molly Mahon. Based in Sussex, Molly is a British printmaker whose designs are applied to fabrics, wallpapers and a growing range of homewares. Inspired by nature, travels to India and inspiration from her daily life, Molly turns images into repeat designs and carves them into a wooden block which is then used to print.
