Our first Selvedge World Fair, which took place in September, was a three-day virtual event celebrating textile traditions and makers from around the world. The keynote speech, all talks and some of the ‘Show & Tell’ sessions were recorded. Ticket holders have been able to access this content ever since using their ticket, but we’re now offering access to new visitors too. If you would like to watch the talks from the Selvedge World Fair, but missed out at the time, you can buy a ticket to access all recorded content from the fair. This includes a keynote from Polly Leonard, founder and editor of Selvedge. Polly talks about the connection between cloth culture and creativity: “If you follow a thread it will take you around the world!”

You can also watch six talks on textile-related topics. This includes Cross Cultural Collaborations, led by presentations from Tamay & Me, Studio Bagru and Ock Pop Tok who gave us insights into their experiences setting up textile businesses using expertise across cultures. Fantastic Fibre with Karin Carlander, Natalie Chanin, founder of Alabama Chanin and Denise from Suzhou Cobblers, with presentations by Karin on linen, Natalie on cotton and Denise on silk. Contemporary Interpretations includes presentations and discussion with Amy Revier, Ana de Prado, designer at Manos del Uruguay, and Chinar Farooqui, founder of Injiri, who gave us an insight into their processes of designing and making textiles and how they use traditional textile practices to create contemporary pieces that pivot on the edge of art and textiles. In Cultural Identity & Appropriation, Porfirio Gutierrez, Rita Nazareno and Meghann O'Brien discuss the importance of cultural identity in the making and creating of textiles.

The bundle also includes access to the Show & Tell sessions. In these sessions, each artisan presented their work and talked about their practice. The sessions are grouped by the areas where they are based: The Americas, Asia, Europe & Africa.
