Stitching an Indoor Garden

Stitching an Indoor Garden

All images courtesy of Dee Hardwicke.

The artist and designer Dee Hardwicke has created a new Indoor Garden embroidery collection for Anchor based on her original watercolours of flowers, plants and butterflies. Comprising patterns and kits, finished items from the Indoor Garden collection could be fabric-backed and made into cushion covers, table runners or hung as wall hangings.

The ten patterns – which are designed for cross-stitch and for freestyle embroidery – include motifs such as White Blossom, Olive, Nutmeg and Clematis Blue, which takes inspiration from the cottage gardens surrounding Dee's home in the Welsh countryside. The patterns are available to buy from Anchor Crafts. Anchor is offering Selvedge readers a discount of 5 Euros against downloads of Dee’s embroidery patterns by using the code ANCWEB03 at checkout. Full details and terms and conditions below.

Three of the kits are designed to be worked in cross-stitch (on plain Aida cloth), with the remaining three kits being created for freestyle embroidery on half-linen printed fabric. The kits are available from stockists nationwide including Wool Warehouse.

Talking about her designs, Dee explains ‘nature puts colour together so well and in such perfect proportions that I find inspiration whenever I step outside’. Always with a sketchbook to hand, Dee records the plants and flowers which catch her eye throughout the seasons. Whether she’s designing fabrics, knitwear, flooring or ceramics, Dee's motifs always begin life in her sketchbooks, which celebrate the ever-changing British landscape.
