Tapestry Weaving at Chateau Dumas
We’ve just returned from a wonderful week at Chateau Dumas near Toulouse where we spent a week with tapestry weaver and artist Fiona Rutherford. We’ve been fans of Fiona’s work for many years now so we were delighted when she agreed to become a tutor for the week.
Our enthusiastic group of weavers learned to ‘warp up’ and to weave patterns and shapes with a spectrum of coloured linens and cottons from The Handweavers Studio. They produced some beautiful tapestries and here they are...
Our thanks must go to our attentive hosts. Lizzie and her team provided the perfect setting for the week and of course all of the delicious meals.
We look forward to the next two workshops at the Chateau this August, unfortunately the Shibori workshop is fully booked but we have one space left on the Merchant & Mills Sewing School, so if you’d like to become an able seamstress why not join us.
Merchant & Mills Sewing School, 15-22 August, prices from €1600, www.selvedge.org

Thank you, Clare! I’m reliving the splendid week with everyone while trying to acclimate myself to being at home. Aren’t we so lucky that everyone was so compatible? I miss all of you…
