The Antique & Vintage Textile Fair
This weekend, The Antique & Vintage Textile Fair will come to the Armitage Centre in Manchester with textile dealers from around the world. Featuring works hailing from France, Holland, Japan, Africa, India and more, this fair will offer a truly global perspective on antique textiles, costumes and furnishings from the 18th to the 20th centuries that continue to enrich the contemporary design landscape.
Whether you are a student looking for design inspiration, a collector looking for a unique addition, or just want to browse beautiful materials and objects, this fair promises to be one of this year’s highlights. Taking place on Sunday 15th of April, there will be free talks taking place throughout the day discussing a wide range of design topics, covering the histories and futures of textile design.
Speakers to look forward to include Dominique Heyse-Moore, senior curator of textiles at the Whitworth Art Gallery; Alison Welch, head of fashion research at Manchester Metropolitan University; Rachel Moaby, curator at Sunnybank Mill and Jane Callender, indigo shibori artist, educator and author (you can learn more about Callender’s beautiful work in Selvedge issue 63).
