The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair
The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair (GNCCF) returns to Upper Campfield Market this October for its 12th edition. This once a year, award-winning show brings together over 160 specially selected designer-makers to sell their work and has become a must-attend event for exhibitors and buyers alike.
Expect a diverse range of talents and stories from professional makers including jewellers, ceramicists, furniture-makers, textile and glass artists, metalsmiths and printmakers. This is a rare chance to buy some genuinely individual pieces direct from the artists and talk to them about their work and the inspirations that guide them. Curator talks and maker demonstrations also provide visitors the opportunity to learn about the materials and the making process.
In addition, there’s ‘Great Northern Graduates’ - a curated showcase featuring fifteen exceptional new makers chosen from the 3000 students who have graduated from this year’s creative courses. In another dedicated area are makers specially selected for the Craft Council’s Hothouse Award, a six-month development programme. Hothouse alumni have gone on to create installations for Selfridges and Burberry and exhibited internationally at prestigious design events such as Milan Design Week. The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair provides a springboard for emerging talent and gives the audience an introduction to the ‘ones to watch’.
