The New Craftsman
Christmas can be a time for tinsel and sparkle, but it can also be a time for log fires and rough texture.
Some of my favourite pieces in the New Craftsman collection are throws and cushions of Mourne textiles, because the structure is obvious and has an honesty and integrity that I like. Their pieces are about yarn and the over under structure of weaving, there is no colour or patten to distract one from the materials themselves.
This same quality can be observed in the baskets of Hilary Burns. Her willow tray is made from her own raw willow and would be perfect for serving tea in front of the stove.
Lorna Singleton's oak swill lamps shades to add light to the darkest time of the year.
