The New Design Museum
An Anglepoise lamp, a football and a Christien Meindertsma installation – in what kind of institution would you find such things sitting alongside one another?
There is probably only one and it is the Design Museum. For twenty five years the museum has been collecting, curating and considering key designs that have shaped the modern world.
After a long wait the museum is finally set to open in its new residence – the formerly derelict Commonwealth Institute.
With three times their former space there will be room for a dedicated gallery to display its permanent collection alongside exhibitions. The new Design Museum will reopens on High Street Kensington on 24 November 2016.
