The Room Service
This year, a new company called The Room Service will launch in the UK. Created in direct response to the experience of going to a well designed hotel or restuarant and spotting some beautful textiles, tableware, furniture or ceramics, The Room Service is a new concept store and online platform that will source these hard to find, handcrafted products for those who happen upon them in these design-led spaces.
Focussing on a mix of heritage brands, national treasures, independent makers and little-known craftsmen, this new company aims to bridge the gap between rare craftsmanship and the public’s own fingertips. Chef, potter and ceramicist Dan Cox is the creator of The Room Service, who produces bespoke plates and platters on which to serve his food in Crocadon; his fork to farm restaurant in Cornwall.
As part of London Craft Week 2018, Cox talks about the importance of all things ‘at the table’. From the food to the ceramics, the textiles and everything in between, Cox will explore what each element brings to a meal.
