The Saturday Super Salon
As we mentioned in our Pattern issue, Salons are set to be this year's most fashionable type of party and no one channels the spirit of those elegant 18th century gatherings better than the exceedingly dapper Mr David Carter. With the help of respected writer, interviewer and Selvedge contributer, Liz Hoggard, he has created The Saturday Super Salon which takes place at his boutique hotel in London. On the first Saturday of every month attendees can expect intelligent debate, wisdom, wit and the whimsical glamour for which 40 Winks is famous, "We love creating emotionally engaging and intellectually enlightening experiences, but our events are never stuffy…" explains Mr Carter.

The next Salon takes place on the 2nd of May, when Ian Kelly here will be discussing his block-buster biography of Dame Vivienne Westwood (a book The Telegraph described as 'fabulously, fetishistically brilliant'). While on the 6th June, novelist and fashion historian Philippa Stockley will explore dangerous liasons – literary and personal. Conversation will be interrupted by champagne, tea and cake – can you imagine anything better?
