The Selvedge Blanket

Our friends at Wallace Sewell have created a bespoke blanket design for us. The Selvedge Blanket is available from our online store now, in small or large. It’s an ideal Christmas gift, or gift for yourself to keep you warm this winter. Talking about the design, Emma Sewell says, "Taking our lambs wool 'Block throw' collection as a jumping off point, we created a bespoke design for Selvedge, incorporating their trademark grey, alongside a rainbow of other colours, reflecting the rich assortment of textiles featured in the magazines.” Both sizes of blanket are made of 100% merino lambswool, from Australia and South Africa. The yarn is dyed and spun in Yorkshire and woven in Lancashire, UK. The blankets are hand-finished, blanket-stitched in grey.  

Wallace Sewell is a textile design company that many Londoners will know already – even if they don’t know it. Travel on the Northern, Bakerloo or Jubilee lines and you will see the company’s colourful moquettes adorning the train’s seats as it snakes its way through the city’s tunnels every day. Tiny impressions of London’s landmarks can be found in each of these patterns including Big Ben, the London Eye and Tower Bridge, and this is just a snippet of what Wallace Sewell have produced for the UK market. Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell are the duo behind this renowned studio. Wallace Sewell has been inspired over the years by the Bauhaus design ethos; carefully coupling the handmade with the mechanical.

For Christmas 2020 we have worked with some of our favourite designers to create Selvedge-inspired gifts. These also include a notebook, a magazine box file and a haberdashery box covered in Cambridge Imprint-designed Selvedge paper.
