Invitations are currently invited for the CHAT 2023 Research Grant. The Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile (CHAT) encourages applications from independent scholars, researchers, archivists, writers, and postgraduate students.
The grant is designed to promote independent research, based on CHAT’s collection and relating to Hong Kong’s textile industry, promoting trans-regional and/or cross-cultural perspectives that can bring to light new narratives.

The successful applicant will receive a research grant of up to HK$60,000 to assist with the completion of a research paper and the delivery of a presentation to a panel appointed by CHAT. Both are to be completed by the end of March, 2024.
Those keen to apply should submit a proposal to heritage@mill6chat.org before 31 January 2023 at 23:59 HKT (GMT +8).
Your proposal should include:
- A minimum 500-word summary of your proposed research topic, its scope, its research objectives, your proposed methodology, and a schedule.
- A CV (maximum of 2 pages of A4).
- Summaries of papers published over the past 5 years, indicating the most significant.
- The names and contact details of two referees who are familiar with your research.

Successful grant applicants will be selected by a panel comprising professional researchers, CHAT’s assigned scholars, and the curatorial team.
