Yesterday I visited the flax producing area in Northern Europe which produces 70% of the world's linen. I saw the flax fields just coming into flower at a farm in Dunkirk. I visited La Linere in Bombourge, the largest scutching mill in the area; their warehouse with bales of flax piled floor to ceiling made an impressive sight! Finally I watched skilled workers as they ladder stitched table linen at the Alexander Turpault factory. The day confirmed my long held passion for linen... Join Selvedge for our

I love linen so much. I’ve always been fascinated with the process of manufacturing it and other materials, like cotton.
