WHEN THE FLOWERS BLOOM: INTRODUCING TINTORERIA

María Romero founded Tintorería in 2017 as a natural dyeing service open to friends and neighbours. Drawing upon her past experience as a men’s tailor and passion for handcrafted textiles. Tintorería is a small-scale, natural-dye kitchen named after the popular dye houses that have existed throughout Latin America and Spain.

In 2021, Romero launched El Closet, Tintoreria’s evolving capsule collection with legacy, comfort, and quality as its intention. Never abiding by or creating for the seasons that dictate the fashion industry, El Closet’s pieces are released only a few times a year with the purpose of being used over an entire lifetime. Each garment is available in a few hand-dyed colour palettes or it can be left raw in white.

El Closet’s silhouettes are well-fitted to accentuate and intuitively complement the body. Garments are made with natural materials and fibres with comfort and function in mind, such as recycled cotton twills, organic hemp, lyocell and biodegradable products; they are all handmade by seamstresses Maria responsibly chooses.
