Wool week... Day three
If Wool Week has inspired you to pick up a pair of needles then you'll be pleased to hear that STC Craft/Melanie Falick Books have kindly offered two books - Modern Top-Down Knitting by Kristina McGowan, and More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson (of Purl Soho).
How many needles are needed to create a piece of traditional fair isle knitting?
Please send your answer to assistant@selvedge.org Well done to Dawn Miller, Carla Wentink and Jennifer Bennett who each win an ANTA utility bag.

phew after much searching and many phone calls, having never knitted fairisle before and being a beginner who has just knitted her first cardy ever, and it has all the bits in the right places, hurrah, anyway, i digress, fairisle is knitted on two or four needles and can also be knitted on a circular needle, sounds really hard, hmmm think i might have a go.
Wool week has been a wonderful journey, even without the prizes! So much inspiration, wonderful photographs and excellent commentary. I must add that I really enjoyed Joelle Halverson’s first book “Last Minute Knitted Gifts”. I have knitted many of the projects and the patterns are unerringly satisfying. Can’t wait to hear more about the fair isle…
