Katelynn Ulmer - The Emporium Collection by Liberty Fabrics

Liberty Fabrics is delighted to unveil its latest quilting collection, The Emporium Collection. This collection is inspired by the historic architecture and interiors of Liberty’s iconic London flagship store. The flagship was designed in the 1920s by Edwin T. and Edwin S. Hall. To make the shop feel most like a home, it was constructed around three atriums, which reflected the period’s Tudor revival architecture. Each atrium was surrounded by smaller rooms that came complete with fireplaces and furnishings, making it the perfect showroom for patrons to view the cutting-edge fabrics, ornaments, and objets d’art that would later adorn their own homes. Liberty founder, Arthur Lasenby Liberty, wanted only the finest and most awe-inspiring rooms in which to display Liberty’s collection of objects that were delicately constructed by the world’s greatest craftspeople.

The Emporium Collection launches just in time for the new year and features an eclectic mix of floral, paisley, and geometric designs. Drawing inspiration from the elaborately carved wooden details, hand-crafted tilework, and the flagship’s beautiful flower stall, the collection emphasises beauty in the ornate. The designs are traditionally screen printed onto lasenby cotton – a base developed specifically for quilting.

The collection is available in three distinct colour stories that are perfect for the modern interior. Each colour story reflects a different facet of the magnificent store. The regal blue paired alongside a rich mustard give a nod to the tiled interiors, while an exuberant multicolour story is inspired by the flagship’s original oriental rug room. Finally, a monochromatic colour story is balanced with soft pink highlights, paying homage to Liberty’s timbered exterior.

The Emporium Collection is available in-store and online at www.libertylondon.com.
