This tote bag is woven from handspun wild Himalayan nettle fibre using a simple plain weave on a traditional Bhutanese backstrap loom. The nettle is foraged and processed by rural communities, with every stage of production—from harvesting and spinning to weaving and stitching—completed entirely by hand.
The minimalist design is complemented by subtle embroidery inspired by Bhutanese prayer flags, adding quiet detail to the cloth. Natural, undyed nettle tones are paired with warm madder accents, creating a restrained palette that highlights the beauty of the fibre and the craftsmanship behind it.
Each piece is made entirely by hand. Variations in weave, colour and finish are an inherent part of the process and reflect the individuality of the artisan, making every bag unique.
