India, Maku Textiles, Dziban dress - currently unavailable
This ensemble consists of two garments: A deep V-neck, half sleeves, gathered jacket dress with single button opening in front and a band collar on the neckline, paired with a sleeveless, scoop-neck silk paneled dress.
The striped bodice of the jacket is made in crushed home spun cotton fabric, and the flowing skirt is made of a hand woven silk and cotton in a deep luminous indigo, in which little jamdani brocade dots seem to shimmer like stars in the early night sky.
Maku’s designs are contextual to community, practices and individual skill sets. The fabric is handwoven in the villages of West Bengal (India) by traditional brocade weavers. It is a contemporary adaptation of the age-old craft of jamdani weaving.
This product is hand dyed in natural indigo.
This product is handwoven and hand-dyed. Any irregularities only add to the beauty of the textile.
