India, Maku Textiles, Currasow dress
Round neck, full sleeves, gathered under the yoke, layered wrap dress with overlap and fastening at the neck, and jamdani brocade. This tailored garment sees ‘moon’ brocade motifs in silver on a deep indigo ground, suggestive of the glimmering moonlight in the night sky. It is embellished with a customized silver button.
Maku’s designs are contextual to community, practices and individual skill sets. The fabric is handwoven in the villages of Bengal (India) by traditional brocade weavers. It is a contemporary adaptation of the age-old craft of jamdani weaving.
This product is handwoven and natural dyed. Any irregularities only add to the beauty of the textile.
Natural dyed garments may vary in appearance over time.
