21 November 2025 – 26 July 2026: Wes Anderson: The Archives
21 November 2025 – 26 July 2026 at the Design Museum, London
Whilst dreaming up his film The Grand Budapest Hotel, Wes Anderson found inspiration on the streets of Karlovy Vary, researching the architecture of 1930s European hotels such as the Grandhotel Pupp. Anderson’s study was meticulous. “It goes down to the tiniest detail, such as the fobs attached to the hotel keys,” he reveals. “We have a whole folder of reference images for those.” So it was no surprise that Anderson enlisted his production designer, Adam Stockhausen, to create a to-scale miniature model of the hotel for the film. This November, at the Design Museum in London, viewers will be able to marvel at the model in all its glory.
