France, Jouy-en-Josas, Musée de La Toile de Jouy
The Musée de la Toile de Jouy celebrates the iconic toile de Jouy — the printed cotton fabric that became a hallmark of 18th‑ and 19th‑century French textile design. Installed in the elegant Château de l’Églantine in Jouy‑en‑Josas, the museum traces the history of the renowned Oberkampf manufactory (1760–1848) and its extraordinary legacy of over 30,000 printed motifs. Its rich collections of painted and printed fabrics, sample books, drawings, costumes, furniture and printing tools illuminate both the technical processes and cultural significance of this emblematic textile, while immersive historical spaces and rotating exhibitions connect past practice with contemporary design discourse.
