How to Block Print at Home with Molly Mahon
Based in Sussex, Molly Mahon is a British printmaker whose designs are applied to fabrics, wallpapers and a growing range of homewares. Inspired by nature, travels to India and inspiration from her daily life, Molly turns images into repeat designs and carves them into a wooden block which is then used to print.
Since the lockdown began, Molly Mahon has been making some inspiring videos for block printing at home, using potatoes to carve her designs instead of her usual wooden blocks. She has kindly created one especially for Selvedge readers. We hope you enjoy it and make some beautiful block prints of your own!
This project was featured in Issue 97 Red.

Block Printing
As a fabric artist, I found this to be a lovely, simple demonstration on how to print on paper and fabric. Clear, concise instructions that anyone of any age can manage. These types of videos are what expands the appreciation for creativity in others while forming an adventurous attitude for one's self. Creativity is an important part of the human psychic which helps us adapt to the unknown and become more open to all aspects of life. I believe it makes us kinder and gentler people who become more willing to except and be excited by learning from people of all cultures.
Thank you, Molly for sharing.
Ms. Randy
