India, Ka-Sha, Contemporary Craft Clothing

Founded in Pune in 2012 by designer Karishma Shahani Khan, Ka-Sha is a contemporary Indian label where clothing becomes a meeting point between craft, memory, and everyday life. Rooted in India’s indigenous textiles and techniques, the studio translates inherited knowledge into a design language that feels both grounded and distinctly of its time.

At Ka-Sha, craft is understood as an ecosystem of people, relationships, and knowledge. The label works closely with its makers, developing skills while honouring traditional ways of making. Its approach is guided by mindfulness, functionality, and longevity: garments are designed to be used, lived in, and kept. Reversible and versatile pieces encourage a slower relationship with clothing, closer to heirlooms than seasonal fashion.

Working with indigenous textiles such as Cotton, Chanderi, and Kala Cotton, Ka-Sha brings together appliqué, embroidery, beadwork, patchwork, and macramé, alongside traditional dyeing techniques such as tie-dye and clamp dyeing. These details often carry subtle references to place, craft, and memory, leaving room for each wearer to create their own interpretation.
