Woven on traditional handlooms in Bengal, this stole embodies the quiet rhythm of jamdani weaving — each motif inserted by hand into the warp, thread by thread. The craft, known for its precision and patience, creates a textile that feels both delicate and enduring.
The stole combines fine mill-spun cotton with handspun cotton, giving it a soft yet structured drape. Motifs in gicha—handspun silk—and naturally dyed cotton bring subtle contrast to the indigo tones. Hand-dyed in natural indigo, the fabric’s soft blue palette shifts gently across the weave, echoing the artisan’s touch at every stage.
Designed in the studio of Karomi Crafts & Textile, this piece features the Kankra or “crab” motif, reimagined through linear compositions and varied spacing. The result is a calm, contemporary textile that honours a long-standing tradition while exploring modern simplicity.
Slight variations in tone and weave are intrinsic to its handmade process.
