Handwoven by artisans in Bengal, this stole is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional jamdani technique — an intricate form of weaving where each motif is handpicked on the loom. Every detail emerges slowly through the weaver’s rhythm, preserving the integrity and quiet beauty of this centuries-old craft.
Made from a balanced blend of fine mill-spun and handspun cotton, it carries both smoothness and texture. Motifs in gicha—a handspun silk—and cotton introduce soft tonal contrasts against the deep blue ground. The stole is dyed by hand in natural indigo, its colour shaped through gradual layers of immersion that lend depth and subtle variation.
Designed in the studio of Karomi Crafts & Textile, this piece reflects a modern approach to jamdani, honouring tradition while exploring simplicity and space. The scattered arrangement of motifs brings a sense of openness and movement to the surface.
Variations in tone and weave are characteristic of its handmade process.
