Issue 60 Knit
Texture takes over
From traditional warm woollies to avant-garde techniques our September/October issue explores the many ways to create knit and knotted textiles.
We marvel at the colourful crochet playgrounds of a Japanese artist Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam, admire the ageless appeal of Catherine Andre’s knit collections and, as the V&A announce their forthcoming Alexander McQueen retrospective, Savage Beauty, we look at tartan as symbol, stereotype and fashion staple.
With our focus on knit it felt natural to head to Scotland but we bypass the mainland to meet textile designers who inhabit some of the hundreds of beautiful offshore islands.
