Kati Hienonen - Bondenliving

Founded in 2016, Bonden combines traditional craftmanship techniques with modern design. It was nominated in Green Product Award-competition in 2024. For the products, we developed a yarn suitable for industrial weaving from Finnsheep wool that used to largely go to waste. The translucent colour palette of plant-based dyes has guided Kati Hienonen’s design work with this exclusive home textile collection. The dyeing and printing process is carried out with exceptional environmental care, relying on methods entirely free from harmful chemicals, in harmony with nature’s own purity.The products are crafted in collaboration with local businesses and artisans from Finland who possess specialized skills and rich traditions in spinning yarn, natural dyeing, and weaving.

Bonden’s 10th anniversary collection brings together cushions printed using a silk-screen technique with botanical pigments and blankets made from Finnsheep wool dyed with natural dyes  Each linen cusion cover is hand-printed, layer by layer, using carefully selected botanical pigments – slowly, thoughtfully, and in a truly distinctive way.
