The Silk Museum celebrates the town of Macclesfield’s pivotal role in the British silk industry and its influence on design, technology and social history. It houses an internationally significant collection of silk textiles, pattern-books, industrial machinery and artefacts from as far afield as Ancient Egypt. Next door is the adjacent Paradise Mill — a preserved 19th-century silk mill containing the largest collection of Jacquard hand-looms in Europe, where guided tours bring the weaving process to life.
