In this workshop, you will be playing with found objects such as brushes, dried flowers and leaves and upcycled materials to create a small series of textile samples.
Painting with heat transfer paints, you will learn about contemporary artists working within the medium of print and how they use multiple processes, both digital and analogue to push the boundaries of contemporary practice within textile printing.
You will be introduced to a range of different ways to construct patterns and colour fabrics using mark-making, hand-cut stencils and collage. you will be hand painting with disperse dyes and heat transfer inks to create patterns. You will then sample them to fabric using the heat press.
By the end of session, you should be able to explore pattern making with prepared stencils, layering, collage and embellishment styles to create a series of small fabric samples using the heat press to take away for further development.
The workshop is suited for all levels and would suit a beginner as well as those with some or more experience of textiles or textile print. No particular skills are needed for this course, just enthusiasm to learn and experiment.
All materials are provided and, it is recommended you wear old clothes or, bring an apron for this workshop. Please bring a large envelope or folio sleeve to store your work.
