Award winning author and designer Claire Montgomerie will be teaching this fun workshop for experienced knitters who wish to expand their hand knitting skills and try some colour work techniques. If you have started your own knit sample book, this is a pocket of time where you will be able to add some colourful samples for future reference.
In this workshop, you will be able to spend some time elevating your knitting skills as we explore colourwork, how to follow charts, how to work and progress with different knit stitches such as Fair Isle and, how to play with colour for striping techniques.
The session will be hands-on, taught by demonstration, group and individual tuition. You will be taken through the techniques with a group demonstration, repeating and practising the advanced techniques of knitting. There will be recommendations for relevant books and shops, and a website list, which will help develop your skills after the workshop.
The course is suitable for improving and experienced knitters who would like to explore and experiment with the techniques. You must know at least the basic stitches of knitting and be confident in using them.
By the end of the workshop, we hope you feel empowered and confident to incorporate colourwork into your knitting, To have the confidence to start using colourwork charts and follow a pattern made with one or more of the colourwork techniques.
You may wish to bring your own needles so you can continue working after the workshop. You may also find a notebook useful and an envelope/bag for your sampling.
