In this workshop, we will introduce you to several mixed media techniques to generate your own unique artwork to be applied for textiles. You will learn about contemporary artists working within the medium of print and how they use multiple processes, both digital and analogue to push the boundaries of contemporary practice within printmaking.
You will be playing with found objects such as brushes, dried flowers and leaves and upcycled materials to create a small series of textile samples Painting with heat transfer paints, you will learn about contemporary artists working within the medium of print and how they use multiple processes, both digital and analogue to push the boundaries of contemporary practice within textile printing.
The workshop will cover a series of demonstrations; cutting pre-made dye sub paper shapes to form a print design. Paintings into rice paper, painting with heat transfer paints, Introduction to Photoshop for textiles and, how to work with haptic surfaces within print including the safe use of a heat press. Produce a series of layered prints related to the demonstrations shown. Discussed and critically analyse the work at the end of the session.
By the end of this workshop, you should be able to apply shapes and creating a mix of layers of dye sublimation creating a design to be applied for textiles, then create a small collection of samples playing with painting with various objects. This workshop is open to all levels.
You may want to bring a notebook and, a small folio sleeve or envelope would be useful bring to take away your samples at the end of the workshop.
Liege Lopes Sales is a Brazilian textile designer now based in London. Liege founded her own practice, Liege Design Studio, a print textile studio, specialising in creating exclusive designs, hand illustrated digital prints for the fashion and interiors market.
