Laura Miles is a London-based textile designer and founder of WOVEN Studio, established in 1997. With over two decades of experience in woven textiles, she specialises in jacquard and dobby design, working across fashion and interiors with an emphasis on craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability.

Her practice bridges contemporary design with traditional weaving techniques, developed through collaborations with mills and artisan communities internationally, including in India, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan. Alongside her consultancy work, Laura launched the WOVEN label, creating handwoven garments produced in partnership with women’s weaving cooperatives, supporting ethical production and long-term livelihoods.

Laura’s work is rooted in a commitment to material integrity, slow processes, and the preservation of textile heritage.

Event Description
Tucked away in a quiet corner, Woven Studio has been home to handweaving since its founding by Laura Miles in 1997. It is a working studio where fabric is developed with intention and where traditional skills meet contemporary ideas.

The space is home to a remarkable collection of handlooms, including three dobby looms and a wide-width production loom used to weave complex, custom textiles from an eclectic mix of materials: feather yarns, paper threads and fine natural fibres. Visitors are welcome to explore the studio, browse the yarn archive and see the work at its source.

At the front of the studio, the WOVEN collection — a line of handwoven garments made from organic cotton in collaboration with the WomenWeave and Karghewale collectives in India — will be available to purchase.

Laura will give a short talk at 12.30pm on both days, reflecting on her career in textiles and the ethos that has shaped the brand from the beginning. A quiet and unhurried afternoon in the company of considered cloth.
