Event Description
Period Costume Figure Drawing returns to Cosprop for a series of relaxed and immersive drawing sessions inspired by the extraordinary world of historical dress. Using costumes drawn from Cosprop’s vast archive, life models will wear carefully selected period garments, offering participants the opportunity to sketch richly detailed silhouettes, fabrics and accessories up close.
Set within one of the industry’s most iconic costume houses, the sessions provide a rare chance to study the structure, movement and craftsmanship of historical clothing through observation and drawing. From sweeping skirts and tailored coats to intricate trims, corsetry and drapery, the costumes reveal the relationship between body, garment and performance across different periods of dress history.
Suitable for all levels, the sessions are designed to encourage both focused looking and creative experimentation in an inspiring studio environment surrounded by costume history. All drawing materials will be provided.
