The Sarawak Textile Museum celebrates the rich textile traditions of Sarawak’s diverse ethnic communities, highlighting historic weaving techniques, motifs and ceremonial costume. Housed in the colonial-era Pavilion building — originally constructed in 1907 and later repurposed as a museum — its galleries trace the textile-making process from raw fibre through to finished cloth, with examples such as Iban pua kumbu and Sarawak Malay kain songket on display alongside traditional accessories and explanatory exhibits that illuminate the cultural meanings of pattern, craft and ceremonial use.
