Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, National Textile Museum
The Muzium Tekstil Negara (National Textile Museum) celebrates Malaysia’s diverse textile traditions and craftsmanship, charting the development of cloth making from prehistoric techniques through trade, weaving, batik, embroidery and ceremonial cloth production. Housed in an elegant heritage building of Indo-Saracenic Revival design near Merdeka Square, the museum’s galleries—including the Pohon Budi, Pelangi and Ratna Sari halls—present traditional Malay textiles such as songket, pua kumbu, telepuk and embroidered forms alongside tools, materials and personal adornments that reflect the cultural richness and regional variety of Malaysian fibre arts.
