Online Talk with Lu Flux
Wednesday 11 March 2026, 2 - 5pm GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)
Lu Flux is a smock maker and designer based in Kent, specialising in hand-crafted garments rooted in traditional textile techniques. With over twenty years’ experience in fashion and textile craft, she studied Fashion Design at Edinburgh College of Art, after which she worked in Paris for designer Bernhard Willhelm. From 2008–2018, Lu ran her eponymous fashion label, trading internationally and showcasing at London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Tokyo Fashion Weeks.
Inspired by historic workwear and domestic craft, Lu’s practice centres on slow, considered making and the preservation of age-old skills. Each piece is hand-cut from organic or naturally dyed fabrics and finished with processes such as smocking, embroidery, pleating, and handmade buttons. Lu now focuses on smock-making, teaching, bespoke commissions and community mending.
In this session Flux will share her creative journey and approach, concluding with a Q&A.
Flux will also be running an online workshop, Smocking & Dorset Button Making on Saturday 23 & 30 May 2026, 2 - 5pm BST. To book your place, visit our website HERE.
