Sally Lacock
Sally Lacock is a London based designer & maker creating contemporary jewellery as an expression of connection to nature.
Finding great beauty in the dynamic multil-layered urban environment in which she lives she takes inspiration from cyclical botanical themes, in particular the fragments created by elemental forces as they break down in a cycle of return to the earth. Tumbled bark and seed heads, shards of broken china, torn edges of discarded paper are some of the ephemeral treasures she collects to inform her work.
Sally uses traditional tools and techniques to form and forge her jewellery from recycled silver, and works with a local caster for pieces made by the lost wax casting method, sculpting the wax by hand for each design herself.
Symbolising decay, growth and renewal Sally’s textural, sculptural work reflects both the fragility and strength of nature.
Sally believes that a loved piece of jewellery becomes integral to the wearer and it is with this in mind that she approaches her practice, striving for harmony and balance of design, tactility and longevity.
