The Shetland Textile Museum celebrates the unique textile heritage of the Shetland Isles, emphasising knitting traditions such as Fair Isle and Shetland lace along with weaving and rugs. Housed in the historic “Böd of Gremista” just outside Lerwick, the museum presents a rich collection of artefacts and active demonstrations by local makers, allowing visitors to explore how textiles reflect identity, culture and craft in this remote archipelago. It is the only museum in the UK exclusively dedicated to the textile heritage of Shetland.
