Spain, Igualada, Igualada Leather Museum
The Museu de la Pell d’Igualada i Comarcal de l’Anoia celebrates the deep industrial and craft heritage of leather production in Igualada — one of Catalonia’s historic centres of tanning and textile-related manufacture. Housed in the restored Cal Boyer late-19th-century cotton mill, the museum’s permanent exhibitions trace the processes, tools and cultural significance of leather and hide work, from pre-industrial techniques to mechanised production. Adjacent displays at the Cal Granotes former 18th-century tannery allow visitors to experience historic tanning pits and contextualise leather-making within the region’s broader industrial landscape.
